With this bromeliad plant, care should be taken to move plant to direct sun gradually to avoid scorching its leaves. A few hours of morning sun is ideal. Water: Keep the plant’s urn filled with water at all times and change it weekly. Water regularly to keep the soil lightly moist, but not soggy. Aechmea fasciata has no toxic effects reported. With a few exceptions, bromeliads only bloom once. However, the blooms last an exceptionally long time — months or even up to a year. Bromeliads grow and bloom year round.
